The District of Sechelt requires an experienced, knowledgeable and motivated Executive Assistant to Mayor, Council and Chief of Innovation & Growth. We offer a competitive salary package with benefits and an incredible work environment.
The Opportunity
The Executive Assistant (EA) reports to the Mayor and Chief of Innovation & Growth. As a member of the management team, the EA will be responsible for typical administrative duties in addition to more complex functions and services, such as conducting briefing sessions on sensitive/confidential issues with the Mayor, being involved in the drafting of policies, researching and proposing strategy recommendations in support of concepts, projects and ideas on business development, minute-taking during confidential and closed meetings, monitoring calendars and scheduling appointments. The EA is also responsible for preparing regular and sensitive/confidential correspondence and maintaining statistical reports.
Requirements
A university degree in Business Administration or an acceptable combination of education and progressively responsible experience; five to ten (5-10) years of direct work experience in an Executive Assistant capacity; and, three to five (3 – 5) years of experience working with policy writing and research. Required competencies include good understanding of and a strong interest in economic development; strong research skills including experience conducting legal and regulatory research; previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information; strong knowledge of general office procedures involving procurement, travel arrangements and budget management; a high level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability; considerable working knowledge of business English and ability to write moderately complex, sensitive and confidential documents; effective time-management skills; a well-defined sense of diplomacy and a professional, responsive, and positive work attitude; ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies; innovative thinking; proven superior typing skills at 60 words per minute; competency with word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail clients, and presentation software.

You will have a successful track record with at least 15 years' experience in progressively senior leadership roles in the private sector. You are an exceptional communicator possessing a straightforward style, enabling you to build strong relationships with the Council, management, suppliers, stakeholders and beyond. A university degree as well as first-hand knowledge or work with different levels of government will be important assets.

Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee Volunteer Opportunity
Are you interested in arts, culture and heritage activities and promoting them in our community? The District of Sechelt’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee is currently seeking individuals to join the committee.
Letters of interest are being sought from those residents who have some prior knowledge or interest in arts, culture or heritage, and who are motivated to plan and participate in projects that promote arts and culture in Sechelt.
