Bring your payment to the District of Sechelt Municipal Office, 2nd Floor, 5797 Cowrie Street, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
24 Hour Payment Drop Box
A secure payment drop box is located by the front doors of the Municipal Hall, 5797 Cowrie Street. The drop slot is located at the Cowrie Street entrance, not the library entrance to the Municipal Hall building.
Place your cheque and/or Home Owner Grant application in an envelope and drop it in the box. No cash please. We will process your payment promptly each morning (Monday to Friday). If you would like a receipt mailed to you, please enclose your entire Property Tax Notice.
By Courier
Payments can be couriered to the Municipal Hall attention District of Sechelt, 2nd Floor, 5797 Cowrie Street, Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A0. Detach the bottom portion of your property tax notice and sign the home owner grant if applicable.
By Mail
Detach the bottom portion of your property tax notice and sign the home owner grant if applicable. Please make cheques payable to District of Sechelt. Mail your payment attention District of Sechelt, PO Box 129, Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A0.
Payment must be received in the Finance Department at the Municipal Hall on or before midnight on Monday July 4, 2011 to avoid a late payment penalty. On July 5, 2011 a 5% penalty will be applied to any amount left outstanding, including any unclaimed Home Owner Grant (if eligible). An additional 5% penalty will be applied to outstanding amounts on September 1st, 2011 in accordeance with sections 233 and 234 of the
Community Charter.
The District of Sechelt accepts Post-dated cheques. The District does not issue receipts for mailed in payments unless specifically requested, your canceled cheque (once processed by your banking institution) may act as a receipt if necessary.
By Internet or Telephone Banking
With two easy steps you can pay your property taxes and claim your Home Owner Grant online. Most financial institutions accept utility and property tax payments through telephone and internet banking.
Step 1 - Claim your Home Owner Grant Online
You are able to “Claim your Home Owner Grant” on-line from May 24th – December 31st of the current year. A payment is not required to claim your Home Owner Grant.

Step 2 - Pay your taxes through online banking.
Be sure that you select the correct vendor for Internet and Telephone Banking:
To pay property taxes, select
Sechelt (District) - Tax, and use an eight (8)-digit account number (e.g. 06115005).
The eight (8)-digit account number is the same as the last 8 digits of your property's roll number. Do not enter the first three digits (570) or the 'period' from your property's roll. For information on this payment option, please contact your financial institution.
WARNING: It takes a few business days to process property tax payments made directly to your financial institution. To avoid a 5% penalty, the payment must be received at the District of Sechelt by midnight Monday July 4, 2011 so
ensure online payments are made several days in advance!

What Payment Methods are accepted?

- Post-Dated Cheques
You can pay your taxes and utilities with a cheque post-dated to the due date. This allows District staff time to check your payment and Home Owner Grant, if applicable, and to contact you prior to the due date if there are any problems or questions. We deposit your post-dated payment to the bank on the cheque date.
