Next Steps for Biosolids Handling/Waste Water Improvement
A Request for Proposals for Project Management Services has been issued.
The RFP seeks options for design, design/build, or design/build/operation of the facility. Constructing biosolids handling will reduce demands on our existing treatment plants, allowing our existing system to meet our need for another 5 to 10 years.
The District is considering striking a RFP review committee including outside engineering expertise and representatives of the local business community to aid in evaluation of proposals received.
Sechelt will continue to plan for wastewater treatment improvements using District funds and by exploring new senior government and other grant/cost sharing opportunities. The goal is to have the best possible wastewater treatment with the lowest possible future impact on taxation. If the District needs to borrow funds for build future improvements, a referendum or counter-petition process would be required.
In 2011 there will be a focus on improvements at the Ebbtide Plant to address noise and odour issues.
