Natural History of Sechelt

Posted: 68 days ago

Sechelt, BC – Mayor and Council joined members of the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and Sunshine Coast Community Forest in unveiling an ancient log display on Sechelt’s waterfront. The log was unearthed during excavation for the Watermark condominiums and has been radiocarbon dated to 4,830 years old (5,500 calendar years). Recognizing the significance of this ancient piece of our past, the Natural History Society donated the log to the District of Sechelt for public display.  The Sunshine Coast Community Forest provided funding for the creation of an information panel that is installed next to the log.
